Amex Gold Card Updates

The American Express® Gold Card just got some fresh updates yesterday.

Cardholders can now earn 5X points on prepaid hotel bookings through Amextravel.com and the Amex Travel App (previously 2X points).

Users can also enroll in Hertz Five Star status - enrollment and registration required for Hertz Gold+.

Buffalo Wild Wings and Wonder (food delivery and takeout) were added as new dining partners for the existing $120 dining credit that is split into $10 monthly statement credits.

The “As High As 100,000 Points” language still remains the same, but the signup bonus spending increased from $6,000 to $8,000 for the first 6 months

To celebrate the 60th Anniversary Celebration Amex is also adding some additional benefits like an Uber One Membership Credit:

  • Enroll and get a one-time statement credit of up to $96 when using the Gold Card to pay for an annual Uber One membership, unlocking savings and exclusive benefits on Uber and Uber Eats.

There’s also a 20% Hilton Honors transfer bonus, Amex Travel offers for certain bookings at The Hotel Collection, and other specially curated Amex offers.

In our opinion, this update is a net positive because there were no massive devaluations here...

However, there also isn't THAT much to get excited about.

But still, we'll take new benefits any day of the week! What do you think about these updates?
