Capital One Quicksilver Gets Updated
Select cardholders of the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card woke up with a pleasant surprise this week…
For starters, this card is transitioning from the Mastercard network over to Discover.
A card network change likely will not affect too many cardholders - but it is worth noting that Discover is less accepted outside of the US.
The bigger and more exciting news?
3% back on gas and groceries is getting added to the Quicksilver.
Capital One now has a 3X category in gas to compete with other issuers - opening the door to a possible Capital One Trifecta with the Quicksilver, Savor, and then a Venture card of your choice.
Possible earnings could be:
3X on dining (Savor)
3X on groceries (Savor)
3X on gas (Quicksilver)
2X on everything else (Venture X)
5X on flights and vacation rentals (Venture X)
10X on hotels & rental cars (Venture X)
And a friendly reminder that Capital One Quicksilver and Savor cards earn cash back which can later be converted to Capital One Miles for free.
$100 in cash back equals 10,000 Miles.
An article from Upgraded Points stated that not every Quicksilver cardholder is getting changes though:
- Customers who did not receive a notification will remain on the Mastercard network and will not have access to the new bonus category (gas and groceries).
We don’t know why certain cards are switching and others are not - so if you hold this card, then check your email.
