Japan Airlines and Emirates Sweet Spot
We are currently sitting on a gold mine of Japan Airlines availability right now for booking Emirates Fifth Freedom Flights.
If you want to learn about one of the best business class flights in the world and an onboard bar and lounge like this 👇 then stay with us for 2 more minutes…
First things first, go to Seats.Aero - and at the top of page, there’s an option for Routes. So click that and select "Emirates Skywards"
Type in “MXP” in the search bar on the right and select the route JFK to MXP or MXP to JFK:
Filter results by Business class and you’ll see options for only 59,000 points!
Next, you’ll need to login to a free Emirates account and search the same day you found on Seats.Aero.
Pricing varies but "Saver" award pricing for one way is now sitting at 59,000 points versus "Flex Plus" at 87,000 points.
The Emirates website is also showing more availability than Seats.Aero, so you can search day by day there as well.
Here's an Emirates "Saver" award flight:
The $400+ taxes and fees still sting though, so we have a workaround!
The last step is to go to the Japan Airlines website (JAL).
Under "JAL Mileage Bank" at the top of your account, click "JMB Partner Airlines Award Tickets" and do an exact search for the flight you found on Emirates:
Here's the key...
The flight needs to be "Saver" award pricing on Emirates and then the flight should show availability on JAL for that date (while supplies last).
We tested 16 total flights - 8 with "Saver" availability and 8 with only "Flex Plus" availability:
4 flights JFK to MXP
4 flights MXP to JFK
4 flights EWR to ATH
4 flights ATH to EWR
8/8 flights with Emirates "Saver" availability are available to book on JAL (better hurry).
0/8 flights with Emirates "Flex Plus" availability are available to book on JAL.
Our guess is Emirates released a ton of award availability recently on these new
"Saver" seats during their recent devaluation (that turned into good news).
Pricing on JAL is 60,000 points + $102 for New York to Milan and Newark to Athens for their popular Fifth Freedom Routes.
And then 60,000 points + about $160 returning home from Europe for the same cities.
Capital One (1:0.75) and Bilt (1:1) transfer directly to Japan Airlines.
