Chase Travel Introduces Price Matching
Great news - Chase just introduced a price match guarantee for prepaid hotel bookings made through their Chase Travel portal!
This is a pretty significant update because it could really help customers feel more confident that they're getting a great price when booking travel through Chase.
While price matching is currently only in beta testing for select Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ cardholders, Chase confirmed to NerdWallet that this feature will also be available to those with the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.
There's a 3 step process for this price match guarantee, so here's how it works:
1️⃣ Verify Eligibility
2️⃣ Submit Claim
3️⃣ Receive Refund
You must submit a claim within 24 hours after a hotel booking is made and at least 24 hours before check-in.
The nightly hotel price difference also needs to be more than $5.
All hotel details have to match the Chase Travel booking, including property, room type, bed type, number of guests, currency, and dates of stay.
And you must provide a screenshot of the lower rate, along with the website domain.
Claims can then be submitted on the trip details section of your account.
Hotels in The Edit are included in the price match guarantee - that’s a big win!
One thing to note though is that outside pricing for loyalty program members and other travel portals are excluded from price matching.
So for example, if you are receiving a cheaper member rate through Hyatt's website for being a World of Hyatt member, then you can't use that cheaper member rate to qualify for price matching.
Still though, having the ability to match prices when booking in Chase Travel will definitely help to level the playing field when booking many stays with the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.
Another thing to mention is that it looks like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card will not be getting this feature - at least for now.
And there's no timeline for when other cards could be getting this feature as well.
We often get asked about the differences between the Sapphire Reserve and the Sapphire Preferred...
