Upcoming Citi Devaluations

If 2025 was the year of premium credit cards, then 2026 is the Year of Devaluations™.

Citi TY Points currently transfer to:

• I Prefer Points at a 1:4 ratio

• Choice Privileges® Points at a 1:2 ratio

However, Citi will be devaluing these two hotel transfer partners. Starting April 19, the new transfer ratios will be:

• I Prefer Points 1:2 ratio

• Choice Privileges® Points 1:1.5 ratio

That’s a 50% devaluation for I Prefer and a 25% devaluation for Choice.

Finding worthwhile stays from I Prefer and Choice will now be even harder…

So that's why we often recommend transferring TY Points to American Airlines or taking advantage of a transfer bonus instead.

But the silver lining to these upcoming transfer partner devaluations?

We have an exact date for when these changes go into effect - so transferring points before April 19 could be a smart move if you do get value from these two loyalty programs.

AND Citi also just announced two new transfer bonuses to help ease the pain:

• 30% to Virgin Atlantic

• 25% to Avianca
