Amex Airport Lounge Updates - Q4 2026

We have a few exciting airport lounge updates from Amex, starting with…

The Largest Centurion Lounge Ever

A massive 30,000 square foot Amex Centurion Lounge planned for Newark (EWR) Airport is opening next year in 2027.

The idea was to open the lounge this year, but Amex decided to make the space larger - including a coffee and wellness bar, two floors, and three cocktail bars.

Amex will complete the New York City Airport Trifecta with lounges at all three major airports (JFK, LGA, and EWR).

We have a feeling it’ll be worth the wait!

Location Upgrades

The Amex Centurion Lounge at Philadelphia (PHL) airport is temporarily closing on October 16 to clear room for renovations that’ll double the current space size.

Houston (IAH) airport’s lounge is still currently open and will be almost tripling in size from 8,000 square feet to 23,000 square feet.

Philadelphia is set to reopen at the end of 2027 and Houston will be finished in 2028.

Another New Lounge

London Heathrow (LHR) airport is getting a second Amex Lounge - this one in terminal 5 sometime in 2028.

The new location will be the smallest of the ones we mentioned today at only 9,000 square feet - but Amex is set to be the first credit card issuer with multiple lounges at LHR.

Our Wise Take

Bigger is better in the realm of airport lounges, especially since a common complaint for airport travelers is the overcrowding issue.

Great to see more updates - just be patient if you live near one of these airports because Amex has a history of “postponing” scheduled opening dates.
