Amex Card Updates Coming Soon

Amex has been BUSY lately with a bunch of changes, so here’s 4 major updates coming soon to some of their cards:

1️⃣ Bye-Bye Saks

Sayonara (Japanese for Goodbye 👋) to the $100 Saks credit on the American Express Platinum Card®.

An Amex statement said:

  • Starting July 1, 2026, the annual Shop Saks credit on the U.S. Consumer Platinum Card will be removed.

Amex also said they will be adding new and exclusive offers to Platinum cardholders on July 1.

Not much of a loss here because that Saks credit was hard to get value good from with limited inventory and a pricey selection.

2️⃣ Hello ChatGPT

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and the American Express® Business Gold Card are getting up to $300 in ChatGPT Business credits.

Details are still being worked out, but this will be a nice addition for two cards that have high annual fees.

3️⃣ Amazon Business Card Move

Amex sent an email to affected Amazon Business cardholders stating:

  • Your Amazon Business or Amazon Business Prime Card will be replaced with an Amazon co-branded credit card issued by U.S. Bank. We expect that this will take place on August 14, 2026.

Daniel here - I have this card and use it occasionally when buying things through Amazon because of the guaranteed 5% cash back over earning just 1.5X or 2X with other business cards.

I’m planning to move forward with the US Bank transition myself because it looks like US Bank business cards do not report to personal credit reports.

4️⃣ Transfer Partner Changes

Starting June 30, 2026 cardholders will no longer be able to transfer Amex MR Points to Etihad.

This program is being cut entirely as a transfer partner instead of a reduced transfer ratio like we saw with Emirates last year.

It’s still possible to transfer to Etihad from Bilt, TY Points, and C1 Miles at this time.
