Avios 30% Transfer Bonus - August 2026
Amex MR points are running a 30% transfer bonus to Avios programs including British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus.
1,000 MR points are now worth 1,300 Avios through September 27 and this is one of our favorite bonuses of the year - giving you access to 5 different airline programs.
Say you wanted to take a flight the day before Thanksgiving from Phoenix to Newark on American Airlines (booked via Qatar Airways Avios):
Only 13,000 MR Points are needed with a 30% transfer bonus to get the 16,000 required Avios for a $264 flight (about 2 CPP in value).
Or maybe a flight to Europe is on the summer 2027 bucket list - so check out this business class flight from Dallas to Finland for only 62,500 Avios and very low taxes and fees:
Only 49,000 MR Points for a 10-hour flight are required with the same transfer bonus, saving you over 13,000 credit card points.
Qatar and Finnair are not listed for the transfer bonus, so we’ll need to link Avios accounts completely for free to then move Avios between programs.
Here’s the exact process for doing that:
1️⃣ Account Sign Up
Sign up for at least 1 these 5 airline accounts to start:
British Airways
Qatar Airways
Aer Lingus
Finnair
Iberia
2️⃣ Enroll in 2FA
Two-factor authentication (2FA) can be slightly annoying to set up, but it helps protect your information and your points balance in each loyalty program account.
You must have this set up in order to transfer Avios between programs.
3️⃣ Link Accounts
You’ll sign in to Avios.com with either a British Airways, Iberia, or an Aer Lingus account (we always do British Airways for simplicity purposes).
Then, you’ll get prompted to “Link accounts now” - click the button for each airline.
If you did not enroll in 2FA when signing up for your airline account, you should be prompted to do so here.
4️⃣ Transfer Avios
Once each account is linked, you can transfer freely between Avios programs.
So for our redemption examples today:
MR points → British Airways → Qatar
MR points → British Airways → Finnair
