Qatar Award Booking Restrictions
Qatar Airways has restricted flights booked for multiple people using Avios (points/miles) to something called “My List.”
My List is a new feature within Qatar Airways Privilege Club that allows a member to create a personalized list of up to four individuals for whom they can redeem Avios for award flights.
Here’s the gut punch…
Privilege Club accounts must be open for 30 days before users can create a My List.
AND members must complete at least one qualifying activity, which includes:
a flown flight accrual with Qatar Airways or any partner airline, or
at least one eligible co branded credit card accrual transaction.
Here’s how you can adapt your booking strategy:
1️⃣ Sign Up Today
Create a free Qatar Airways Privilege Club accountif you do not already have one.
Doing so helps fulfill the first requirement needed to create a list.
2️⃣ Credit A Flight
Transferring a flexible point currency to Qatar or from another Avios program is not a qualifying activity.
Booking directly with Qatar or using a co-branded card is possible to fulfill the second requirement, but may not be totally feasible.
So you can earn Avios (a flight accrual) through a partner airline, like a program in the Oneworld alliance.
American Airlines is going to be the most common and easiest to complete this.
Loyalty information will default to American Airlines when booking a flight and entering passenger information during the checkout process with American.
Simply edit the passenger details and loyalty information to your Qatar Airways account instead.
After the flight is complete, you will earn Avios inside of your Qatar Airways account.
3️⃣ Create A List
Once you complete steps one and two, then you will be able to create a My List and book with friends and family.
