Bilt Upgrade & Downgrade Terms
Bilt is updating its terms and conditions to include credit card upgrade and downgrade language.
This comes as we start to approach the 1-year anniversary of Bilt 2.0.
Some of their language now reads:
If you Downgrade through a Product Change within 30 days after the prior Bilt Card’s Annual Fee posts, the prior product’s Welcome Bonus Bilt Cash is reversed and the destination product’s Welcome Bonus is issued in its place, which may result in a negative Bilt Cash or point balance.
Bilt continues with the terms mentioning Bilt Points and Elite Status also being reversed.
To be totally clear, we don’t know if that 30 days is considered after newly opening the card or dating back to a full year of opening the card.
For example, say you apply and get approved for the Bilt Palladium in October 2026:
Does that mean you can product change without penalty in November 2026?
Would you have to wait until the annual fee renews and product change in November 2027?
Maybe neither and something else?
Frequent Miler reached out to Bilt for clarification and has not heard back yet - so for now, hang tight if you were planning a downgrade until everything is clarified.
We would hate for you to lose Bilt Points, Bilt Cash, or Elite Status for some unclear terminology!
There are also targeted upgrade offers right now for select cardholders with the Bilt Obsidian and Bilt Blue.
One offer included 50,000 Bilt Points + $100 Bilt Cash for an upgrade to the Bilt Palladium.
