A popular airline card is getting a refresh!
The Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® has new benefits and an annual fee change starting January 24, 2027.
(yes, that card name is a mouthful 😂)
What’s Changing
Lets get the bad news out of the way first - the annual fee is going from $99 to $150.
The 25% savings on inflight food and beverages is shifting to a credit worth up to $100 for food, beverages, and WiFi.
Plus, benefits include a complimentary Walmart+ membership ($98 value), up to $120 Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit, and 50% off an annual FOX One subscription.
Additional spending multipliers and travel protections were also added to the card.
What's The Same
The $0 annual fee for the first year remains, then $150 in year two and beyond starting January 24, 2027.
A first checked bag free and preferred boarding for up to four passengers, Turo credits, discounted vacation packages, and no foreign transaction fees continue as normal.
Wise Take
We’re a little bummed about the increased annual fee, but waiving it in year one is still a great starting point.
Daniel here - I just got approved for an 80,000 mile sign up bonus on this card and talked about it in one of my recent videos.
The advance notice is helpful here, so I’ll be able to use some of the updated credits and benefits before my annual fee goes up next year.
Overall, the refresh seems like a net positive for frequent American Airlines flyers.
