Is Citi Adding Japan Airlines?

Internet rumors are one thing - but Citi’s very own website is showing the option to add Japan Airlines (JAL) as a loyalty program for some cardholders:

The other airline options on that page are active transfer partners, likely meaning that someone at Citi made a mistake by revealing that Japan Airlines could be Citi’s newest transfer partner.

Nothing is confirmed as of now and there's still other information we don’t know:

  • When/if this will happen

  • Which cards are eligible

  • The transfer ratio

We do know adding Japan Airlines would give Citi TY Points even more value.

Transferring to JAL is currently only possible from Bilt Points, Capital One Miles, and Rove Miles.

Bilt and Rove have a 1:1 transfer ratio - while Capital One is a 4:3 ratio.

A recent Japan Airlines press release also mentioned the program wants to “expand mileage and point exchange partnerships.”

Adding another bank points currency to the mix sounds like a good expansion to us!

More to come in the future as this story develops…

In the meantime, reply back with an airline or hotel program you want to see added next from a major points currency.
