Air Canada & Hyatt Partnership
Air Canada and Hyatt just created a unique program partnership.
We read the details and confusing terms so you don’t have to!
There’s three main things to know once you link your loyalty accounts:
1️⃣ Avoid Transfers
Hyatt members can now transfer points to Air Canada Aeroplan and select elite Air Canada members can transfer to Hyatt points.
Regardless, the transfer ratio is 2:1 so every 1,000 Hyatt points converts to 500 Air Canada Aeroplan points and vice versa - not recommended since most banks transfer at a 1:1 ratio.
Overall, examples are extremely niche when this ever makes sense to do.
The more relevant example today is:
2️⃣ A Flight Credit
Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist, Globalist members can get a $20 CAD flight credit (about $14 USD) on a future Air Canada booking after linking accounts.
The credit will be emailed to you and must be applied at the time of booking on the Canadian airline’s website.

3️⃣ Status Match
Air Canada elite status members can get rewarded with a Hyatt status match challenge:
Earn Discoverist with 4 nights
Earn Explorist with 10 nights
Earn Globalist with 20 nights
That’s a fast track to Hyatt status that would normally require WAY more nights.
Maybe you have elite status from holding an Air Canada co-branded card and could maximize some upcoming hotel stays with Hyatt.
The new partnership is nothing to write home about, but there are specific examples where it could make sense for some of you.
