NEW Avios Calendar Search Tool
There’s a new and absolutely awesome way to search Avios flights…
Avios.com has introduced a calendar search tool to find award flights more efficiently.
A couple things to note:
British Airways, Iberia, and Aer Lingus are the supported airlines
Partner flights (like AA) are not available right now
Must search on the Avios.com website
Strictly direct flights at this time
The team at Avios is working to improve the tool as they go, like connecting flights and (hopefully) adding other Avios partners like Qatar and Finnair.
One of our most frustrating things in the points and miles space was trying to search many of these programs by themselves.
Take one of the more affordable business class flights on Iberia as a perfect example - we used to click day-by-day in a 7-day calendar view on Iberia’s website…
But now, we can scan a full year of availability in seconds:
The same process can be used to find those East Coast to Dublin routes for only 13,000 Avios like this one from Philadelphia:
To search for yourself, login at Avios.com and select “Search Reward Flights” under the “Spend Avios” option at the top of the page.
Input your cities of choice and check the box for the desired flight class on the left side of the screen.
Once you find availability on Avios and select the flight, the tool will direct you to book:
We did notice when searching for Iberia or Aer Lingus flights, we were getting routed to book on the British Airways website.
Most likely because we logged into Avios.com with our BA account information.
So you can always use the tool, and then search and book with a specific airline directly.
The tool is surprisingly very user-friendly (which is a shock to us, knowing previous website clunkiness).
Bottom line, the calendar tool is a HUGE win for people trying to redeem points with Avios programs and we're excited to see what updates are coming soon!
