Reminder: Hyatt Devaluations on May 20

Hyatt’s award chart is getting updated tomorrow on Wednesday, May 20.

Off peak, standard, and peak pricing will be changing to 5 new tiers which will affect points prices across most Hyatt properties.

Luckily, today (May 19) is that last day that you can book until May 2027 under their old award chart - so this is our friendly reminder to search and consider booking today.

Best case scenario?

You lock in rates at the old pricing and potentially save tens of thousands of points.

Worst case scenario?

You change travel plans and get points refunded back to your Hyatt account for free.

Hyatt is still (by far) the best hotel program with points and miles, so the refunded points could easily be used for a future trip.

A really cool feature with Hyatt is how you can search for hotels on their website if you’re open to travel ideas.

So for this example below, we checked the “Use Points” box and did a sample search for 4 nights in Europe this Fall for under 30,000 points per night:

A bunch of hotel options then appear, like the Hyatt Regency Amsterdam for only 20,000 points per night:

Or this hotel in Cologne, Germany for only 15,000 points per night:

Both properties are 2-3 cents per point (CPP) in value and would save you hundreds (or thousands) of dollars versus booking in cash in each city.

If you were feeling super fly, let the deal decide the destination and try this search for any Park Hyatt property:

Over 50 different results populate from that search like the Park Hyatt Tokyo for 40,000 points per night.

Cash rates for this property are $1,500 per night! 🤯

Park Hyatts and other Category 7 & 8 properties will be hit hardest with this upcoming May 20 devaluation.

Prices could jump from 45,000 points per night up to 75,000 points per night.

Again, we don’t know how dramatic the changes will be until tomorrow...

But we do know that NOW is arguably the best time to lock in savings with Hyatt.

(After you finish reading this newsletter, of course!)

Remember, Chase UR Points and Bilt Points both transfer directly to Hyatt.
