Unique Two Player Strategy

With constant devaluations this year - here’s a two player strategy worth considering to help you battle rising flight prices.

The basics are a 3-step process:

1️⃣ Apply For A New Card

2️⃣ Earn The Sign Up Bonus

3️⃣ Redeem Points For Flights

Nic here - I first applied for two Southwest credit cards, since a Southwest hub airport is close by.

Then, a few months later, I earned sign up bonuses from each card.

The fun part begins after the spending is finished…

Actually using the points!

The strategy that I decided to go with here is booking flights for someone else using these Southwest points - something you can do, even if you aren't traveling with that person.

This is perfect for a two player strategy where two people may not always be traveling together.

Player one signs up for the card, you each contribute to spending and earning the sign up bonus, and then player two redeems a portion of the points for travel.

That's exactly what my girlfriend and I did for a recent Southwest booking.

We used my Southwest account since I applied for the two cards - and we booked a flight for her from the East Coast to Florida for only 10,500 points + $6.

(We also stacked this flight with a 40% Southwest discount for extra savings)

All you need to do is change the passenger information when booking the flight - so instead of my personal information, I used her information.

Delta, American Airlines, United, Southwest, and Alaska all have this capability.

For international flights, try Googling “can you book flights for someone else with points (airline name).”

This isn’t a traditional two player strategy, but it’s another layer of the game worth trying because it can help couples save money when booking flights.

Just make sure that one player doesn’t use all of the points! 😂
