Flying Blue Increases Fees
Starting off this week by writing about a devaluation is not what we want to do.
But the reality is jet fuel prices are on the rise and airlines are protecting profits at all costs.
Flying Blue (Air France & KLM's loyalty program) is the latest airline program with devaluation news - taxes and fees are increasing as much as $100 on award flights.
Here’s a screenshot from January 2026:

Here’s a screenshot from March 2026: 👇
Vegas to Paris for 18,750 Miles + $137 in taxes and fees.
And if you can’t find a direct flight, it could be worse - here’s Vegas to Paris connecting through Amsterdam for 18,750 Miles + $168 in taxes and fees:
A 60% increase at the top end for economy fares - and business class flights were affected as well.
Saver award availability used to be 60,000 Miles + $245 directly with each airline.
Taxes and fees are now around $345 for the same business class flight - representing a 40% increase and $100 more per flight.
Taxes and fees get raised because of fuel prices and other uncertainties, but will airlines lower them if prices drop when certain worldwide issues get resolved?
That’s the golden question.
Luckily, the fixed redemption rates still remain with Air France / KLM and their Flying Blue Promo Rewards are some of the best deals around.
If you’re planning to book some upcoming travel, we’ll have some redemption ideas for you on Friday when these Promo Rewards get updated for the month of April.
