Amex Adds A New Hotel Partner

Amex just added a new transfer partner in Leading Hotels of the World (LHW).

​American Express has been slashing transfer ratios and even losing a transfer partner here in 2026, so getting their 4th hotel program and 20th overall transfer partner is definitely refreshing.

​MR points will transfer to LHW at a 4:1 ratio, which is a better ratio compared to Citi TY points at 5:1.

​(LHW Points required for stays are much less than other hotel programs, so that’s why we see weird transfer ratios like those.)

​LHW properties are more upscale with about 400 independently-operated hotels throughout 80 countries in major cities, remote resorts, and historic destinations.

​What’s really cool is you can get benefits with the program immediately after signing up for an account including:

• daily continental breakfast for two

• early check-in and late check-out considerations

​We put in a sample search on LHW’s website and found 6 results for London, including this 5-star Mayfair townhouse for about 7,800 points per night:

​The 4:1 transfer ratio means we need roughly 31,000 MR points per night - for a luxury hotel in a huge city like London.

​Not bad considering 3 nights would cost almost $1,800 USD.

​You do typically owe taxes and fees when redeeming points through LHW, but this property did not have any showing:
