Another Amex Green Card Update
The Amex Green Card application page has been removed from the Amex website.
Is the card closed for good?
Maybe Amex is updating the website?
Referral links for the card are reportedly not working as well.
No official word from Amex at this time - but speculation online points to a refresh or the card being shut down for good.
We wrote about a card name change and rebranding effort nearly two months ago.
Information was sent out to Amex Green cardholders and informed them of changes starting on August 20, 2026.
With all of this information, we did some minor investigative work when we heard the news last week. 🕵️♂️
The URL slug on Thursday for the main Amex Green website name changed to reflect the new card name.
But then, a few days later, the URL now redirects to other credit cards offered by Amex - while a different website page still highlights the Green Card's benefits.
The Amex Green Card (soon to be Classic Green Card) is just a "few years" older than Daniel, since it has been around since 1969.
(Nic here still enjoying my late 20s). 😂
Overall, it's hard to imagine the popular issuer shutting down one of their oldest products without notice - so we’ll keep you updated as more information is released!
