Chase Freedom Flex® Upgrade
Another update for the Chase Freedom Flex®… and it’s a good one!
The card will now have no foreign transaction fees starting on September 20, 2026.
We recently covered how cell phone protection is going away on the Freedom Flex - so really nice to see Chase upgrade a benefit at the same time.
The card will continue to earn 5% on quarterly bonus categories, 5% on Chase Travel℠ purchases, 3% on dining and drugstores, and 1% on all other purchases.
Keep in mind though, that cash back is earned in the form of UR Points.
The 5% quarterly categories for July through September are:
Gas Stations & EV Charging
Public Transport
Select Live Entertainment
United Way
Public transport includes trains, buses, ferries, toll bridges and highways, parking lots and garages.
Select live entertainment includes major sporting events, zoos, aquariums, concerts, theatrical productions, museums, and amusement parks.
If you have an international trip planned before September 20, then you'll want to opt for a different card to use - but after that, we think we're going to see a lot more people using the Chase Freedom Flex® abroad!
