Southwest 30% Transfer Bonus

Chase just announced a 30% transfer bonus to Southwest Airlines through June 6.

A transfer bonus like this is pretty rare and has only occurred 3 times since 2020.

Southwest operates on a variable pricing chart, meaning the point prices fluctuate with the cash price.

People redeeming points won’t find many flights over 2 CPP (usually around 1.3 CPP), but nearly every flight is bookable with points.

Say you wanted to book this flight from Baltimore to Denver:

Cash prices for a basic economy seat will run about $234.

The same seat is available for 18,000 points:

Only 14,000 points are required with a 30% transfer bonus!

So that means that without a transfer bonus:

($234 - $5.60) / 18,000 points = 1.27 CPP

With a 30% transfer bonus:

($234 - $5.60) / 14,000 points = 1.63 CPP

We've played around with some other sample searches, and sometimes you can book flights as low as 1.1 CPP - while other times you may find flights for up to 1.9 CPP.

Booking flights with Southwest is not a flashy redemption, but it can give you better value than booking through a travel portal or through another airline.

So this is definitely a transfer bonus that's worth checking out!
