Wyndham Award Chart Changes
Wyndham Rewards moves to a new 4-tier award chart today, September 15.
Hotels will now have pricing options of:
5,000 points
15,000 points
30,000 points
45,000 points
That’s a 2,500 point decrease on the bottom end (previous low was 7,500 points) and a 15,000 point increase on the high end (previous high was 30,000 points).
Thankfully, the program sticks with a fixed award chart which keeps pricing predictable (since most hotel programs work on a dynamic award chart).
Hyatt is the other major program with a fixed award chart and they also went through significant changes earlier this year.
Those changes were fairly mild though after we ran some numbers.
Wyndham has 6X more hotels than Hyatt, over 9,000 properties, and does not publish which exact hotels will be affected during the award chart changes.
You can transfer many flexible points currencies to Wyndham Rewards, but often the better deal is buying points for 80% - 100% off and then booking the same hotel to save money.
We’ll have to monitor this strategy with the updated award chart and provide more examples in the future!
